Plans to reorganise local government in Lincolnshire have been put on hold. The Secretary of State made the announcement on Monday (7th September) in the House of Commons saying that a number of proposed reorganisations across England would not go ahead as originally planned. She said this was following legal advice and that there would now be a review of the proposals.
This means that elections for the two new “shadow authorities” in Lincolnshire would not now take place in May 2027. The original plan was for councillors to be elected to the two new authorities which would then come into being in 2028.
It was also announced that elections to district councils would take place in May 2027. For our area that means elections to North Kesteven District Council.
Working with our MP
Recently I was pleased to join Dr Caroline Johnson MP at her coffee morning in Metheringham Village Hall. It was well attended and great to be able to chat with residents about County Council issues. Working with residents, parish and district councillors is also part of my role.
