Fibre network installation issues - Metheringham

In previous updates I have mentioned concerns raised by residents and the parish council regarding the poor quality of reinstatement works.

Last month I arranged with an officer from the county council for  presentations  to be made at the parish council. These were made by LCC officer Ashley and representatives from Virgin media and their contractor.  It was pointed out that the contractors were obliged to bring poor quality reinstatements up to an approved standard . These works are undertaken at the expense of the companies.

Virgin Media have also offered to provide bulbs and other environmental improvements again at their  expense. Furthermore, they have offered to undertake voluntary work on projects in the community.

Primary school “councillors” debate at the county council

Recently I had the pleasure of co-hosting with the Chairman of the County Council a visit by pupils from Metheringham Primary School. They were members of the school council. They learnt about the council and then held a debate in the council chamber. It was great to see the children taking part in debate and learning about how elected councillors make decisions. Following their visit, I was delighted to be invited to see the presentation by the pupils to the school governors and parents about their visit. This included photos and a video of the visit. It was heart-warming to see the children engaged in democratic activity and wishing to serve their local school community.

Lincolnshire Moves: your voice, your roads

The council is seeking residents’ views as part of an in-depth review into our Traffic Management Policy for the county.

The review will cover a range of topics that affect our roads including:

  1. Speed limits
  2. Speed cameras
  3. Traffic calming measures.
  4. School safety zones
  5. Blue badge parking

Through this in-depth review, we hope to make our roads safer, improve traffic flows, and increase accessibility across the network.

Your valuable feedback will form part of a broader review into the current Traffic Management Policy for Lincolnshire and will help shape future highways policy within Lincolnshire. To submit your views, go to the county council website www.lincolnshire.gov.uk  and click on the “Let’s talk Lincolnshire” button on the homepage.

More funding for flood prevention measures

Following the major storms we have had such as storm Babet the county council is putting further funds into flood alleviation  measures. Locally in Dunston measures have been taken to stabilise a bridge with more work to take place on the bridge in due course.

Annual Meetings

As we all aware we are in the season of parish annual meetings. I am endeavouring to get to as many meetings as possible though in a couple of cases I have two on the same night! The county Council will hold it’s annual meeting on the morning of 17th May which members can either view in person or via the live stream on our website.
